How Do You Keep a Teenage Boy Fed?

OK, I have a question & I’m certain some of you have an answer. How in the world do you keep a teenage boy (and often times a group of his friends) fed? No, this isn’t a “why did the chicken cross the road” type of question. I’m dead serious!

I had always heard that teenage boys ate a lot but have never experienced it first hand until now. It’s so true! I’m floored by the amount of food they can consume. I’ll ask my grandson, “how can you eat all that?!?” He shrugs his shoulders and with a sheepish grin says, “Because I’m hungry.” Yikes! How do you with several teenage boys do it?

And then when he has friends over – and please don’t misunderstand, I absolutely love having them here – I think if they had free reign, they’d strip the cupboards and fridge bare like a swarm of locusts.

Often my petite granddaughter will say, “Where did all the such & such go?” I’ll say, “They’re in the freezer.” “No they’re not, I just looked.”Frequently I will hear from either one or both, “There’s nothing to eat.” “What? I just went shopping two days ago!” Sigh….

I have put “family only” limits on certain “snacks” (which are actually make a full meal for my granddaughter) because I can’t afford umpteen hollow legs vacuuming them up in one fell swoop. So I suggest, “How about popcorn?”, but really, how much popcorn can one be expected to eat?

So moms, help me out here, how do those of you who have walked this path of the bottomless pit handle it? What kinds of snacks to you try to keep on hand? Better yet, how do you keep them on hand?

An enquiring and approaching desperate mind wants to know :)

Thanks for any advice, tips, sympathy….

Sue
