Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling

carnivallogo

UPDATE: For several reasons, the Carnival of Relaxed homeschooling has been permanently canceled.

There’s a new carnival coming to town, the Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling!

If you use relaxed or eclectic methods in any or all of your home education, you have something of value to share that can and will benefit other homeschoolers! Your submission can be anything related to relaxed homeschooling:

  • Ideas
  • Why you use this approach
  • Encouragements or discouragements
  • Successes and/or failures
  • Reactions of others
  • What your kids think
  • Anything……

What in the world is a blogging carnival anyway?

Good question and I’ll do my best to explain. A blogging carnival is a place where like-minded bloggers submit posts to which ever blog is hosting the carnival. Readers get the benefit of finding  blogs they didn’t know about. Bloggers who submit entries get the benefit of finding new readers. It’s the best of both worlds!

The Cate family who host the popular weekly Carnival of Homeschoolers, do a great job (better than I could) of explaining the whole concept here.

The First Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling:

Date for the first carnival: Monday, March 2nd
Submission Deadline: 6 PM Monday evening February 23 (at the latest). If you can submit them earlier, it will help me a lot and be greatly appreciated!

The Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling will be held the first Monday of every month. Submissions will be due, at the latest, the last Monday of the previous month by 6 pm PST.

Future Plans

At this point in time, I am still fairly new to the carnival process. I’ve participated in a few and have found some wonderful blogs I didn’t know existed. Many carnivals rotate from site to site with a different blog acting as host. My hope is to offer the Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling on a weekly basis and to rotate hosts.

However, until I learn more about the nuts & bolts of hosting and rotating hosts, we will start with a monthly carnival hosted here at Homeschool Though Highschool. If you are interested in hosting a Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling, drop me an email at CarnivalofRelaxedHomeschooling@gmail.com. I will keep a list and as soon as I understand the process better, I will contact you to set up a rotation schedule.

Help Spread the Word

There’s a few things you can do to help spread the word about the new Carnival of Relaxed Homeschooling:

  • Let others whom you think might be interested, know whether by an email, posting on a forum or Yahoo group or writing about it on your blog.
  • Cut and paste the picture at he top of the post onto your site, linking it back to this page. (Just click on the link and copy and paste the new page URL as your link.)

Whacha’ think?
